Feeling Patriotic
Fun Project

Three of us made a presentation Monday night at our monthly guild meeting on embellishments. We asked members to bring projects they had made that include embellishments. We had old family crazy quilts, lots of stitches, and treasured samplers. Michelle Rambow presented some information about the history of embellishing along with her family's 40 year sampler of embellishments made by their sewing group. I presented some new projects using Texture Magic and had some pieces ready to texturize by the group along with different techniques that can be combined with Texture Magic including batting, thread, and stitching types. Linda Piepenburg presented information from a class called Threadplay where she demonstrated couching with yarn and specialty threads like Razzle Dazzle. She also demonstrated an amazing method of stitching circles using a tack. Truly inspirational evening. We also discussed our upcoming retreat project, which is a Wave bag. Our pre-assignment is to quilt a piece of fabric 15 x WOF before the retreat. We saw many wonderful combinations of fabric by Marcia Provencher and Marilyn Meline for upcoming bags they plan to make. Oh, goodie!
